Bellow is a list of the masterclasses that we will be running over the next two terms to co-incide with the New Enterprise Competition. All sessions are in Room 1.06 Merchant Venturers Building between 1pm-2pm. They are all FREE to attend, just turn up.

In this session, Brian will look at what makes a good business idea and how you can sort through all your ideas to find the ones with the most chance of success.

Brian will deliver a session on how start up businesses can go about doing early stage market evaluation and research.

4 – Company Formation – 14/11/2011 – Veale Wasbrough Vizards
Company Formation Handout
Veale Wasbrough Vizards will talk about forming a company, and the different legal entities that are available to start-ups.

5 - Resources for Start Ups – 21/11/2011 – James King, FindInvestGrow
Resources for Start-ups Handout
This workshop will run through the vast amount of resources available to start-ups, both within the university environment and also from external sources.

6 – IP for Start-Ups – 28/11/2011 – Ray Crispin, RED
IP for Start-ups Handout
Ray Crispin, from the University’s Research Enterprise and Development department will talk about the various types of IP and how start-ups can go about protecting their ideas and business.

7 – Finance for Start-Ups – 5/12/2011 – Ray Crispin, RED
Finance for Start-ups
Ray will run through the basics of finance and accounting for small and start-up businesses.

8 – Writing a Business Plan – 23/1/2012 – TBC
During this workshop, the basics of writing a business plan will be explained, allowing attendes to go away and start writing their own plans.

9 – Honing Your Elevator Pitch – 30/1/2012 – Dave Jarman, RED
Dave will run through the key points of pitching that will help you both with presentations and networking.
